Marie Stopes International (MSSL) is a founding member of the MSI Partnership, operating in Sierra Leone for over 35 years and becoming the largest non-governmental provider of family planning (FP) and sexual & reproductive health (SRH) services in the country. MSSL delivers services in every district of Sierra Leone through its Outreach, Public Sector Strengthening (PSS), Centres, Contact Centre and Social Marketing Channels.
THE ROLE/FUNCTION
The Clinic Doctor works as the leader of the MSSL centre both in a clinical and managerial capacity. The Clinic Doctor is responsible for administering, with the support of the centre operations team, all aspects of operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role ultimately assures service excellence, client safety, system strengthening and capacity building of staff.
The ideal candidate must have the requisite clinical expertise and experience and willingness to lead, motivate and manage a team to deliver quality services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Governance & Leadership
- Provide effective leadership to deliver safe services to clients
- Ensure service providers at the centre follow prescribed guideline/protocols for the management of client ailments
- Promote a culture of accountability, ethical values and a collaborative team spirit
- Ensure completeness of documentation for Client records, inventory and cash flow
- Ensure targets for key clinical indicators (including Incident reporting) are attained
- Prepare and submit reports to internal leadership to demonstrate the center's performance and compliance
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery to achieve better health outcomes
- for our clients.
Clinical Governance & Leadership
- Lead all clinical work including consultations for core and non-core services in the centre
- Perform minor procedures (day-surgeries) as indicated
- Ensure completeness of patient care including follow-up and referrals
- Collaborate with the Clinical Quality team to support capacity building and maintain clinical standards
- Monitor clinical outcomes and client satisfaction metrics to identify areas for improvement
- Monitor service utilization and access metrics to identify opportunities for expanding or enhancing services to
- address unmet needs.
Operations and System Strengthening
- Streamline operational processes and workflows to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.
- Identify gaps and weaknesses in systems and processes and implement solutions to strengthen the centre’s
- operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and tools to enhance service delivery and
- patient care.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (M.B; Ch. B) or equivalent (additional qualification in Sexual & Reproductive Health, Public Health will confer an advantage) with at least 2 years post-internship experience
- Updated license with the Sierra leone Medical & Dental Council Clinical licensure
- Surgical experience including performing Caesarean Sections (desirable)
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality standards, and best practices in healthcare management. (desirable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and PowerPoint (essential)
- Ability to use Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (desirable)
